Definition:
A mohel is a specially certified person who performs circumcisions.
Traditionally, a father would perform a circumcision upon his own son. Many fathers are understandably uncomfortable with the idea of performing a surgical procedure upon their own child. The mohel, therefore, is the designated delegate who will perform the procedure. A mohel must have medical training.
