Stephen D Moss CBE

Stephen Moss, CBE was unanimously elected as Chair of the Movement for Reform Judaism in June 2008. He joined the Movement Board in June 2005 and prior to his election as Chair, held the position of Joint Treasurer.

He was educated at Stowe School and at King’s College London where he read law, and was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn. He took a post graduate Masters in Business Studies at the London Business School.

Professionally, Stephen was Managing Director of BCP, which grew to become the country’s largest airport parking booking service and which he sold in 2003. He continued to develop the business for its new owners until 2007, when he left to pursue other business interests. Stephen is Chairman of Grosvenor Securities, a commercial property investment and development company, and a Director of CallUma, which provides telephone translation and information services for the leisure and business traveller.

After 10 years in the restaurant industry, in 1990, Stephen founded and is Chairman of Springboard, a charity which promotes careers in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, and a Trustee of People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for those industries. In 1992 he was awarded an MBE for services to the restaurant industry and, in 2002, a CBE for his contribution towards education and training.

Stephen has been a lifelong member of West London Synagogue where he has served on many committees, as Warden and, until June 2005, as Chairman. Stephen is also Treasurer of Jewish Child’s Day, which is a chaired by his wife Joy, and they have two children, Gabrielle and Ben.
